Those interested in history, walking or bird watching can also be sure of an exciting visit as the area boasts an abundance of border castles and stately homes, as well as the opportunity to visit the ancient walled town of Berwick. The nearby forests, moorland and the coast, which includes the Farne Islands Nature Reserve, are renowned for the wide variety of bird life.
